Pieta’ Car Park.
The administration of the Car Park in Alfred Craig Street, Pieta’ was devolved from Central Government to the Council on the 5th April 2002. The agreement which is for a three year period at an annual rent of Lm30,000 for the ground and first floor The Council took possession of the property on the 12th April 2002, and invested in the cleaning and embellishment of the premises and the surrounding area and issued tenders for the Management and Installation of Car Park equipment. The tender was granted to CT Park Ltd as from the 1st August 2002

Sa Maison.
The Council proposes to develop the Sa Maison into a major public recreational area. The first phase will be the development of the Sa Maison Gardens into an ‘al fresco’ catering establishment, including parking facilities. The second phase will be the restoration of the old Customs Shed, popularly known as the Boathouse and its conversion into an up-market catering establishment. Tenders for these two major projects will be issued shortly.

Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows
The Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows is being restored by the Restoration Unit of the Ministry of the Environment under the supervision of the Council.

Police Station
The Council purchased the remaining 6 year lease of a house in Hookham Frere Street and has applied for a MEPA permit for change of use into a Police Station. The Council intends to give the Police the use of the premises free of charge.

Public Garden in Bordin Square.
The Council has applied for a permit from MEPA to build a Public Garden in Bordin Square. The area is currently being used for parking.

Mediation Service
The Council offers a free Family Mediation Service for conflict resolution, in association with Concordia Centre. The Executive Secretary, Mr. John O'Dea has received intensive training as a family mediator and has qualified as an Associate Practitioner with the Mediators Institute Ireland (MII)

Quality Management System.
Pieta’ Local Council is the only Local Council in the Maltese Islands whose Quality Management System has been successfully assessed and registered against ISO9002 standards. The Certificate of Registration by Moody International Certification was presented to the Mayor Dr. Malcolm Mifsud by the then Minister of Justice and Local Councils Dr. Austin Gatt in March 2000. The QMS was written by the Executive Secretary John O'Dea, who also implemented the transition from ISO 9002 to the new standard ISO9001:2000 in March 2003.

Street Lighting
The Council forms part of the Northern Harbour District Joint Committee consisting of 13 Local Councils who in August 2002 were the first group of Local Councils to accept the responsibility for the installation and maintenance of Street Lighting in their localities. So far the Council is only responsible for Wall and Central Hanging units, while streetlights on poles and on arterial roads are still the responsibility of Enemalta Corporation. Faulty streetlights that fall under the Council’s responsibility are repaired within 5 working days. Reporting is done via a web-based system, which also includes data on the history of each street light in the 13 localities.
